What MERV rating filter should I use? ▼
For most Grand Lake homes, MERV 11-13 is the sweet spot. MERV 11 catches 85% of particles, MERV 13 catches 98%. Do NOT go above MERV 13 without checking with your HVAC tech — higher-rated filters restrict airflow and can damage your system. Some systems need modification to handle MERV 13. We check compatibility during every tune-up.
Do air purifiers remove smoke and wildfire smell? ▼
HEPA and activated carbon filters remove smoke particles and odors effectively. During wildfire season (increasingly common in Oklahoma), a whole-home system with carbon filtration keeps your indoor air clean even when outdoor air quality is poor. Portable units with carbon filters also work well for individual rooms.
